Sailing Yacht Zero

Sailing Yacht Zero is the first vessel of its size to be powered entirely by renewable energy. It is a lodestar for the marine sector.

Historically, sailing yachts held a deep connection with nature. Traditionally constructed from natural materials such as wood and running exclusively on wind power, they were closely integrated with, and deeply dependent on, the environment in which they operated.

Over the past century, this changed. Internal combustion engines were invented and adopted, making use of the convenient energy density of fossil fuels. Sailing Yacht Zero disrupts this reliance on petrochemicals. It brings the industry full circle by embracing cutting edge technology to harness and store original sources of energy: the wind, waves and sun.

By harvesting just a tiny fraction of this abundant power, Sailing Yacht Zero can operate independently for weeks at a time, all without sacrificing the comfort of its passengers.

The goal of the vessel is to inspire a wave of innovation in the yacht sector, showing the durability and reliability of renewable energy in even the most adverse environments.

Below, we collect the research, data, and stories from this journey.
