Sailing Yacht Zero sea trials: Stability, cables and even more data

Commissioning on Sailing Yacht Zero has reached a new phase as the project pushes towards zero-emission maritime travel. Following the successful installation of the masts and booms last week, electrical engineers are running internal wiring throughout the vessel while stability tests are being carried out to establish the official load line.

Alongside structural testing, the team has begun commissioning onboard hotel systems, which play a central role in the vessel’s multi-source heat recovery design aimed at capturing, storing, and reusing thermal energy.

To ensure maximum system efficiency, Sailing Yacht Zero integrates thousands of active sensors that monitor real-time metrics like the exact flow rates and temperatures of individual taps. This telemetry streams directly to shoreside analysts for continuous performance evaluation, generating data that will eventually be shared open source with the broader maritime sector.

By aggressively reducing baseline consumption across every onboard system, the project demonstrates how data-driven efficiency can unlock true zero-impact sailing.
