What would happen if you were able to combine propulsion and hydro generation systems on a yacht? We followed a team of engineers that managed to answer this question and redesigned a propeller to be able to switch between hydro generation in one direction and propulsion in the other.

Overcoming a series of great technical challenges the project team was able to optimise the combined system. The results have the potential to influence the yachting sector and beyond, by enabling yachts to generate an enormous amount of renewable energy, while sailing with strong winds.
